1 DR. WILLIAM FROST et al 1812 - 1813 ORIGINAL ARCHIVE OF MANUSCRIPT RECIEPTS, DOCUMENTS AND NOTES DETAILING THE IMPORT, EXPORT OF GOODS BETWEEN HAVANA CUBA AND AMERICA DURING THE WAR OF 1812
HAVANA CUBA NEW YORK CITY SAVANNAH GEORGIA 1812 Manuscript Good+ English, Spanish Autograph
On offer is a super archive of 19 manuscript documents, receipts and notes relating to the business of Doctor William Frost, living in Havana, with extensive business dealings from Cuba to Savannah Georgia and New York City. Dr. Frost seems to be exports hides, and other materials especially calico. He receives many goods in return. For example one document concerns business with John Gobel, Havannah [Cuba] 6 July 1812, mentioning trunks containing callicoes, cotton stockings, silk, wine; another document is dated Dec. 12, 1812, for 627 hides at around $10 each, another 318 hides at around $5 each, signed Daniel Perry; another where Frost purchases 1 cag of old Rum from Capt. Dryburgh [1812]; another in 1812 where Frost sells to Philip Aston a Frock Coat and other items of clothing; another 1812 document for sale of hides. These documents detail very important trade between America and her close neighbor at a time when shipping and naval commerce was a difficult exercise and dangerous given America was at war with Britiain in 1812. We also note a receipt for rent paid to Frost by another doctor. All in English save for four which are in Spanish. Overall VG with only one document with significant staining.
