	2	Multiple Authors 1832 ORIGINAL HANDWRITTEN MANUSCRIPT BOOK DETAILING THE CRAFT, RULES, PROCEDURES OF FREEMASONRY 1832 Fair+ English On offer is a super manuscript book detailing the craft of Freemasonry. The work of perhaps as many as six writers there are about 87 handwritten pages, no date though the endpapers are watermarked 1832. There are some initial pages cut but the tome starts with 'Lecture 1st Degree' and filled to the last pages with no further pages cut so it appears complete. Pliable red leather boards with gilt decorations to faces and spine attest to the value once placed on the book. Spine is heavily chipped at ends with about 3/4" missing at each. Spine is also heavily rubbed along length and has a few holes in leather. Corners turned in and rubbed with rubbing to extremities and scuffing and scratching to boards. Rear board has a dime sized piece rubbed through to cardstock. Textblock is detached from boards and spine. Some light foxing to endpapers and about 6 pages have a slight tatter at top of page. Jessop & Sons in New York with various signatures from the firms of Fullerton & Raymond (Boston), Curtis & Hand (Philadelphia), Cornett & Nightingale (Providence), George Stead (Baltimore), Bailey & Mason (Providence), J. & S. Bones & Co. (Augusta, GA), John Graveley (Charleston, SC), Wm. H. Johnson (Philadelphia), and Alex. Fullerton (Boston). Historians and researchers of pre Civil War steel making and general commerce and industry will delight with all the letters concerning business dealings/orders with this early and prominent American steel company, with some letters having exceptional business content: [Boston, 1839] "... There was a great stir on State St. today in consequence of the unfavorable news from Philad. our capitalists have all been buying U. S. Bank postnotes and are very much alarmed. It is however generally supposed that the suspension of those banks will make money matters easier, tho' the suspension of specie payments is regretted, even to effect this object.-- I hope I shall not be obliged to purchase specie to pay my custom house bonds, tho I can easily procure it if necessary. I fear the news fr Liverpool will add only to the troubles in your city-- I hope you sustain no loss from any person in consequence of your late fire..." 	5	Multiple Authors 1919 18th PRECINCT - SUNSET PARK - BROOKLYN - NEW YORK POLICE DEPARTMENT HANDWRITTEN MANUSCRIPT LOG LEDGER JOURNAL Brooklyn New York City, New York NY 1919 Unbound Good English Language "THE BLOTTER. Opened 12:01 AM June 18th, 1919. Closed 12 Mid. Aug. 7, 1919." states the pastedown on the front cover. "Consecutively Numbered pages from Page 1 to Page 600 inclusive." Signed by the Commanding Officer M. DuBro. Huge book with pages of pages of the daily workings of the Eighteenth Precinct Police Station [as per the published details of the printed portion of this huge log book.] This log book would have been central record of all police business in the Sunset Park area of Brooklyn - at the southwest corner of Fourth Avenue and 43d Street where in March 1892, the City of Brooklyn opened a new police station for its 18th Precinct. Far too much to detail as one can understand in a log book of one of the largest cities in the world even in 1919. Interior is clean and very legible and save for the front cover being detached but present and the spine cap missing this journal would be good+. Price: 849.99 USD

Dated circa the 1920's there is a mix of verse, poems, general knowledge, autographs and a newspaper cutting about 'Ninteen Irishmen pay the death penalty.11 shot in Cork and 8 hanged in Dublin.' Names included: Herman Gebler, of Waterford, a professional violinist of Austrian nationality; Seagnan MacMeanman [1891-1962] b. Iniskeel, Co. Donegal, related to the poet Tadhg Ó Tionmanaí; Colaiste Uladh, the Gaelic League school founded in Gort a Choirce, 1906, became Irish teacher at McDevitt Irish Institute, Glenties, Donegal, lost position at one time for not swearing oath of allegiance to the State; Scéalta Goiridhe Geimhridh (Dublin 1915), stories; Fear Siubhail (1924), novel; Inne agus Innui (1929), stories; Trí Mhion-Dráma (1936); Ó Chamhaoir go Clapsholas (1940); Mám as mo Mhála (1940), old-time stories; Mám Eile as an Mhála Chéadna (1954); Rácáil agus Scuabadh (1955); Crathadh an Phócáin (1955); Stair na h-Eireann (1956); Seamus MacAniomaire, Irish botanist writer, [1891-1976] born at Muighinis in Connemara on the 13 January 1891, during 1919-1926 he had a number of stories, essays, songs and lists of terms and proverbs published in the Galway Journal An Stoc, edited by Professor Tomás Ó Máille, before emigrating to New York in the latter year. In New York he taught classes in Irish for the Gaelic Society, and while recovering from tuberculosis in 1927, he wrote Cladaigh Chonamara, which was published in 1938. Agnes O'Farrelly: O' Farrelly was involved in the Irish language movement and equality for women. She wrote poems and novels in Irish and in 1934 became professor of Irish in University College Dublin.Candidate in dail eireann general elections 1927. For the most part the autographs are all dated by the person who signed and some of them have a message in Gaeilge (the Irish language). 	7	Multiple Authors 1941 - 1942 ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT DIARY AND JOURNAL OF BUND DEUTSCHER MADEL [BdM] CAMP MEMORIES, ACTIVITIES AND THOUGHTS HANDWRITTEN BY THE CREAM OF GERMANY'S YOUNG WOMEN WHO ARE SERVANTS OF THE NAZI REGIME AND THE THIRD REICH BdM CAMP MOOSBURG GERMANY 1941 Very Good German Language On offer is an original, historically significant manuscript relic of Nazi Germany and Adolf Hitler's use and manipulation of German women being a 1941 and 1942 diary and journal of a Bund Deutsche Madel [BdM] (League of German Girls or League of German Maidens in English) at Camp Moosburg in southern Germany. The journal records nine [9] girls from July 10th to September 4th 1941 and ten [10] girls from July 12th to September 3rd 1942. Included in the group was the Jungmadel Fuhrer or Leader of the Jungmadel. In the earliest index of attendees they are marked as all from Coburg Germany a noted town several hundred kilometers to the north of Camp Moosburg. Almost all of the same girls return in 1942 with at least one new 'madel'. The book was obviously a cherished journal with many flourishes: calligraphic headings and poems, photographs, handmade shadow art, some dry flora and drawings. The book appears hand made with three [3] text blocks bound with a canvas cloth over boards with leather tips on the front cover alone. 121 pages, 6 X 8.5 inch. Overall VG. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: 1.) BdM Camps were critical to Hitler's rise to power. One online source quotes Kurt Gruber, the director of the movement saying: the Hitler Youth "a new youth movement of young social-revolutionary minded Germans" trained to risk their own lives if necessary to free Germany from "the shackles of Capitalists and the enemies of the German race." Also known as 'The League of German Maidens' or 'League of German Girls' the BdM was the female branch of the Nazi party youth movement, the Hitler Youth. It was the only female youth organization in Nazi Germany. Also: "BdM....a very heavy emphasis on competition. Just about every task, no matter how big or small, was turned into an individual, team, or unit competition. This included boys and girls sports, the quality of singing during propaganda marches, and Winter Aid collections. Boys and girls were kept constantly busy. The Nazis took advantage of the natural enthusiasm of young people, their craving for action and desire for peer approval, hoping, ultimately, each young person would come to regard his or her HJ or BDM unit as a home away from home, or perhaps as their real home." 2.) The League of German Girls or League of German Maidens was the female branch of the overall Nazi party youth movement, the Hitler Youth. It was the only female youth organization in Nazi Germany besides the RAD camp girls and boys. At first, the League consisted of two sections: the Jungmadel, or Young Girls League, for girls ages 10 to 14, and the League proper for girls ages 14 to 18. In 1938, a third section was introduced, the Belief and Beauty Society (Werk Glaube und Sch"nheit), which was voluntary and open to girls between the ages of 17 and 21. Sport was an important section into the movement to educate girls within the National Socialist belief system, and to train them for their roles in German society: perfect healthy wife, mother, and homemaker. Their Home Evenings revolved about domestic training, but Saturdays involved strenuous outdoor training. Some of the girl's work even drew harsh criticism from Nazi party leaders, such as Heinrich Himmler, who felt that these activities were not befitting young girls. Himmler stated in a speech at Bad Toelz: "When I see these girls marching around with their nicely packed backpacks - it's enough to make me sick." The outbreak of war altered the role of the girls as soon as they turned 18. They helped the war effort in many ways. The older girls volunteered as nurses' aides at hospitals, or to help at train stations where wounded soldiers or refugees needed a hand. Often the sports training and other activities of the League stayed. After 1943, as Allied air attacks on German cities increased, many girls went into para-military and military services where they served as helpers, signals auxiliaries, searchlight operators, and office staff. Most of the files contain multiple pages, as many as 20-30 pieces of correspondence and documents with the odd file having somewhat less. The applications provide a wealth of history of South Carolinians who fought for the Confederacy as their relatives filled out a fair bit of information on their veteran antecedents. VG. Multiple members of the faculty have also autographed and added other comments. Further research will assuredly find a wealth of 'known' signatures. In fine condition with the usual light signs of ageing as with any archive over 220 years old but overall clean and fresh and VG+. Some items from 12vo to folio-sized.
