1 LT. COLONEL KENNETH HARRINGTON COUSLAND, THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918 A FORMER GUNNER OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR LOOKS BACK - A SUPER AUTOBIOGRAPHY PRIVATELY PRINTED
ENGLAND FRANCE EUROPE Self 1914 Very Good Manuscript
On offer is a super diary of World War I, retelling the details of Lt. Colonel Kenneth Harrington Cousland's service in a British Army Brigade that moved from Division to Division. Privately printed in 1975, Mr. Cousland was prompted by his family to at last put to paper his story and thus was created "The Great War 1914-1918 A Former Gunner of the First World War Looks Back". This future important figure in the United Church of Canada offers a sensational read of the War effort from his enlistment with the Edinburgh University Battery to Command of a Brigade as a Lieutenant Colonel. The detail, the photos, the references make for a rare, well written and wonderfully documented history of this great soldier's war effort. Over 204 pp of typed text littered with many photos, this autograph copy of the Colonel's War career bears the stamp of the United Church Archives where it was decommissioned. Cousland's service diary reads like a movie. His commentary on balloon warfare and his experiences will delight collectors and historians of the era. VG+.
