On offer is a one of a kind collection of over one hundred articles titled "The Land Of Our Ancestors" an unpublished work written by the noted journalist and foreign correspondent Telford Work, [one-time publisher of Los Angeles Daily Journal, founder of the California Newspaper Service Bureau and City News Service, a Los Angeles Civic Center wire service] being, in diary style, his observations and writings during an extended trip to the 1948 Olympics and further trips to Holland, France, Belgium and other parts of England. Beginning July 4th 1948 Mr. Work chronicles his trip with his first dateline as New Mexico and works his way to the S.S. America leaving from New York. Work's writings have a folksy for-the-folks-and-friends back home feel and the entire read makes for a keen eyed look at war torn Europe and the mix of politics and sport of the day. Original paper wraps bound with two tacks in this 8.5 x 11 in. approx. with a few handwritten corrections and his holograph name and address on the fep.
