This wee diary is covered with a brown silk fabric and has gilt edges. It measures 2" x 3.75" with a loop at the edge to hold a pencil. It is dated in pencil on the inside cover Sept 30, 1869 but actually starts August 11th. The writer, a young woman it appears, rides the train for the first time to Port Jarvis, starting in Stamford, off to New York with mention of Buffalo and then back east to Boston. Rode the stage too and annotated all expenses. 24 small hand written pages with a fair bit of detail in this lovely pioneer travel journal. Good+.
