On offer is an original scrapbook written and compiled by Marie Kathryn Zak, a soon-to-be very well-known travel writer during the 1950s and '60s. A graduate of St. Louis University, she worked for The Automobile Club World Wide Travel Service, wrote a column, called "Travel Talk", for a local newspaper and had a very close and religious family life. This scrapbook details her trip in July 1950 with 200 other St. Louis Sodalist to Rome, Fatima, Portugal and Lourdes, France, on the Queen's Work Holy Year pilgrimage. It includes newspaper articles (one of which is about the S.S. Liguria, a ship they were on, avoiding the perils of a hurricane), telegrams, cards, stickers, receipts, pictures and numerous postcards. In very good shape. Eleven [11] leaves of the sixteen [16] are used and there are some loose pieces of ephemera.
