Her diary covers the full year (minus a week in December) including her daily routine, her marriage to a U.S. serviceman stationed at Battle Creek, Michigan when the war ended, as recorded. The couple moved to Northwood, New Hampshire upon his discharge. Hazel's family was from Worcester, Mass., 45 Lake Avenue. Her father, Clarence Crandell had a canoe rental business on the lake.
