On offer is an original handwritten manuscript Civil War era diary dated 1864 authored by S. Dexter King of Sutton, Massachusetts. Mr. King was a boot maker/cobbler and a supplier to the Union Army. Dexter does a commendable job as a diarist detailing his life including the weather, Church and Temperance meetings [even including some minutes from meetings in the back of the diary and from Children Temperance meetings] plus the many, many entries about making and delivering boots and having to do with military business.
